Wait, what? Are we still hanging out in NC? I know, I know, it's not exactly following the script of our grand adventure. But hey, life happens, right? So, here's the deal - we encountered a little snafu with our awning that needed some TLC from the pros at Girard Awning in Red Bay, AL. Shoutout to Jason and Jeremy for coming to the rescue!
And as if that wasn't enough excitement, we decided to extend our stay at Poplar Point because, let's face it, it's pretty darn fabulous here. Steve had the genius idea to just kick back, relax, and enjoy the scenery for a couple more days. We even celebrated a birthday for Nicole "the Empress", met more awesome folks from the Jordan Lake Enthusiasts, and discovered that Apex and Cary are pretty sweet spots. During our Jordan Lake stay, we saw a beautiful blue heron couple, an osprey, and a stunning sunset every evening.
Well, Jekyll Island, the gulf coast, and New Orleans may have slipped through our fingers, but we scored the Great Smoky Mountain National Park instead. And hey, who can complain when the goal was to visit National Parks in the first place?
Cary definitely takes the wine game to the next level with their Triangle Wine Company 🍷. It's like nothing I've ever seen before (not that I was really keeping score or anything). This place has it all - beer, wine, their own line of spirits, and a furry mascot, Willy the daschund 🌭. We were genuinely bummed that we couldn't linger a little longer.
