Leaving Death Valley the next day, we jetted off to the Petrified Forest. Turns out our trusty app (RV Life) underestimated the driving time - it was a mere 4 hours instead of the predicted 6. We made a beeline for Holbrook, AZ on Route 66, just outside the park entrance and skipped Flagstaff. Famished from the drive, we stumbled upon an Italian restaurant with some snazzy cars parked outside. As we chowed down, we couldn't help but dream of cruising Route 66 in the black Corvette outside. Now that would be a ride to remember! 🏎️

The following day, we ventured into the park, swung by the visitor center, and navigated our way with the help of our trusty NPS app, checking out all the cool stops and tours along the way. We marveled at the petrified logs, imagining their underwater burial and eventual transformation into stunning crystalized wonders. The Painted Desert Inn was our favorite with its charm and fantastic views of the Petrified Forest. Exploring the trails and relaxing on the patio, we soaked in all the beauty around us. On the way back, we checked out the petroglyphs at Newspaper Rock.

Our excitement was slightly dampened when the park closed at 5pm, cutting short our sunset dreams of a display of vibrant colors in the landscape. But no worries, we quickly regrouped and headed back to camp to prep for a spontaneous detour to Las Vegas! Steve had his heart set on catching "Dead & Co" at the Sphere 💀, so off we went, seizing the moment and making it happen. Cheers to unexpected adventures and impromptu dead concerts! 💀🧸🐢
